All ages came out to celebrate

All ages came out to celebrate the 35th anniversary Southwick/Granville CROP Hunger Walk (Massachusetts), the oldest continuous Walk in New England. A group of fifth graders from Powder Mill School set the bar high for enthusiasm. Pictured (L-R) Christopher Pratt (father of Chelsea), Megan Zabik, Paige Cool, Katie Merritt, Megan Coon, Ryanne Shea, Chelsea Pratt, and Sadie Burnham are all smiles.

Also present was founding family member Bessie Marian Anderson, 99, whose granddaughter began the Walk while in high school in 1972, and who took over as coordinator for several years. Although Marian did not walk the six miles this year, she did ride in the relief van, and cheered everybody on. Walkers were accompanied by a trio of llamas, and enjoyed a barbecue at the end. The Southwick/Granville CROP Hunger Walk was expecting to top off at $15,000, an all-time record for this community dedicated to ending hunger here at home and around the world.
