Letter to the Editor – Post-CROP Hunger Walk
The [event name] CROP Hunger Walk was a huge success this past weekend,
Sunday, [date]. More than [$ amount] was contributed by our neighbors
and friends to support the hunger-fighting efforts of Church World Service,
both here at home and around the world. Our local [name of agency/ies]
will receive approximately [$ amount] to aid fellow [town or area residents
name, e.g. Milwaukeeans, Chicagoans] in need, and some [$ amount] will
make possible the global work of Church World Service.
Just think, the funds raised here in [city] and in CROP Hunger Walks across the
U.S. will make a difference in the lives of people in some 80 countries around
the world -- from working with AIDS orphans in Africa, to helping indigenous
peoples of South America to preserve their heritage and culture, and even assisting
families across the central U.S. whose homes were flooded during this summer's
unprecedented rainfall. CROP Walks truly are Communities Responding to Overcome
Poverty.
Again, thank you to all who worked so hard to make this years CROP Hunger Walk
such a resounding success. Special kudos, too, to [name], who raised [$ amount],
our #1 CROP Walker for 2007.
Volunteering, walking, donating -- we all have shown that citizens of [city]
are truly citizens of the world. See you next year at the CROP Hunger Walk, and
God bless!
